Linking weather to your health is not a new idea. The International Society for Biometeorology was founded in 1956 to connect scientists interested in the subject. Dr. John Bart and Meteorologist Denis Bourque have been working in the field since 1986.
Below you will find a timeline that outlines the work and involvement that went into developing MediClim®.
Bart and Bourque form the Canadian Medical Meteorological Network (CMMN); the first such North American association between a physician and a meteorologist.
Bart and Bourque present at an international conference on the link between weather and health hosted by Health Canada and Environment Canada.
Bart and Bourque authors a platform article on the subject of weather and health published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.
Bart and Bourque present lecture at the Toronto Science Centre on biometeorology.
Bart and Bourque complete research paper on the presentation of patients at E.R. at five hospitals across Ontario and weather parameters. Only the MediClim® Index showed a statistically significant association. Results published at CMOS meeting Sept 2007 (Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society meeting).
