What Can Cause Type 2 Diabetes
- A family member within your family has Type 2 diabetes (parent or brother or sister).
- You are overweight.

What Can Cause Type 1 Diabetes
In most cases it is believed that type 1 diabetes occurs because it is an auto-immune condition. What this means is that type 1 diabetes occurs as a result of the body's immune system mistakenly thinking that a natural substance in your body as harmful, and as a result, attacks it.
